You can confirm the specifications of your MacBook Pro 14-inch (M5) directly within macOS.

• View processor, GPU, and memory: Click  > About This Mac. This screen shows whether your system has the M5 chip, M5 Pro, or M5 Max, along with the GPU configuration and unified memory.
• Know the difference between model years: The 2025 base model uses the M5 chip and includes three Thunderbolt 4 ports, while the 2026 models use the M5 Pro or M5 Max chip and include three Thunderbolt 5 ports.
• Check storage capacity: From the same window, select More Info to view the installed SSD size.
• Model identifier: Go to  > About This Mac > System Report. Under Hardware Overview, these systems may appear as Mac17,2 for the base M5 model or Mac17,7 and Mac17,9 for M5 Pro or M5 Max configurations.

If the retail box is not available, wrap the laptop with protective material such as bubble wrap, paying particular attention to the screen and corners. Place the wrapped device inside a sturdy shipping box and fill empty space with packing material so the laptop cannot shift during transit.
